A home and a song!

After endless trips to different offices in all corners of town we finally found the perfect site to settle, behind Shopper Plaza, nearby Mikocheni Primary School is our neat and brand new office. From now on Hariri, Athmani and Geoffrey can be found working at their desks. Meetings with participants will be held outside in the shade and the participants continue having their Dutch classes there too. Together with our office we got our registration as a Tanzanian foundation, the XS21World Tanzania Trust Fund, and a bank account with a local bank. As you can see we are working hard towards becoming an established and famous organization. We wish to welcome everyone to have a look inside the office and exchange ideas with our volunteers.
While on safari during the last week of the project some of the participants sat together and wrote the lyrics of the XS21World Song to a popular song in Dar this summer: ‘Umbrella’ by Rihana. This was one of the most rewarding moments for the organizers, it shows that we real ‘exist’ now that we have a home song. Soon the song will be available from the website as our participants sang it live by the campfire on the beach…

Here in Tanzania

In July we arrived in Dar
From Holland, very far
Everything felt very weird
Daladala's and rubbish on the street

Ngoma playing on TV
Cycling tour, so much to see
Dar started to feel like home
Now we can take dala’s on our own

Chorus:
Because…
In Africa we work together
Polepole on forever
Live the life of your friend
Experience the difference ‘till the end
Playing with children every day
With the help of our GA
Uhuru, Upanga, Mataifa
Here in Tanzania, ia, ia 2x

Getting up at 5 or 6
Go to school to play with kids
A lot of games and culture class
Singing, dancing, one big mess

Chilling out at Zanzibar
Not as sunny as in Dar
Drinking cocktails at the beach
Enjoying the fire and Ema’s speech

Chorus

Catering was always late
No materials, we had to wait
Kids were hungry and wanted to play
A lot of problems every day
à Especially Monday
diarrea, malaria, university, lazy, tired, traffic jam, what whaat

Chorus ‘with a damn lazy GA’ instead of ‘with the help of our GA’

XS21LOVE will find it’s end
All the good times we have spend
Looking forward to the wintercamp
But first we want to thank

Selma, Ludger, Hariri,
Laura, Geoffrey, Athmani,
Jaron, Florijn, participants
Asante sana for everything!!!

Chorus
